What happened to all the furniture buyers?

Sep 23, 2014

Have you been trying to get rid of your old furniture to no avail? The Wall Street Journal published an article regarding a decline in desire for heirloom furniture. While the quality of the furniture might still be good many people find it easier to buy cheap furniture from places like Walmart, Target and IKEA. Sometimes these new items fit better in a home because large furniture can fit awkwardly in newer houses with different dimensions.

Selling your old furniture can be a big part of downsizing your home and in the current market it can be difficult to do so. Some people with heirloom furniture are forced to give well-crafted pieces away when they move to a new home. No one is interested in buying them. If you have pieces you can’t bear to part with you can put them in storage. Doing so will give you more time to find a good home for your cherished furniture.
