How Our Packers Protect Your Belongings

    • The right box for every item. We use dish packs for kitchens, wardrobe cartons for hanging clothes and mirror cartons for art and glass.
    • Proper wrapping and cushioning. Every dish and glass is wrapped individually, and each carton is packed tight so nothing shifts or gets crushed in transit.
    • Room-by-room labeling. Every box is labeled with its room and contents, so unloading and unpacking go faster.
    • Inventory. High-value items are recorded on your inventory.
    • Home protection. Floor runners and door padding go down before the first box is packed, as part of our home protection during the moving process.

    What Our Packers Handle

Our crews pack every room!  We wrap dishes, glassware and small appliances. We protect electronics, books, china and silver when we pack the living room and pack the dining room, and we move clothes straight into wardrobe cartons.  From packing the garage to packing the home office, we handle tools, computers and even home gym equipment.

Some belongings need extra care. We know how to pack fragile items and prepare heirlooms and antique furniture for shipping. Pianos, safes and other heavy pieces move through our specialty shipments.

    What Our Clients Say

    Packing and Unpacking FAQs

    Answers

How much do packing and unpacking services cost in San Diego?

The cost depends on how many rooms and items we pack and unpack, how much fragile or specialty packing is involved, the materials used and crew time. Partial packing or unpacking, such as just the kitchen and fragile items, costs less than the full service. Both appear as line items in your free written moving estimate. To see the bigger picture, read what affects moving costs.

How long does it take to pack or unpack a house?

A trained crew packs most two- to three-bedroom San Diego homes in one day and unpacks them in about the same time. Larger homes, homes with lots of fragile items and long-distance moves may take two or three days. We schedule packing before loading day and unpacking on delivery day or the day after.

Do you bring the boxes and packing materials?

Yes. Our packers bring all the materials: dish packs, wardrobe cartons, mirror boxes, packing paper, bubble wrap and tape. If you pack yourself, every signed order includes a free moving kit with boxes and supplies to get you started.

Can I pack or unpack some rooms myself?

Yes. Many customers pack books, linens and clothes themselves and leave the kitchen, art, glassware and electronics to us. At delivery, many have us unpack the kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms and handle personal items themselves. We price only the rooms you choose. Valuation coverage can differ for boxes you pack yourself, so ask your consultant or read about moving insurance and valuation.

Do you take the empty boxes away?

Yes. Our crew collects empty boxes and packing paper as we unpack, so you're not left with piles of cardboard.

Do I have to use Atlas for packing to get unpacking?

No, but it helps. When our packers pack your home, every box is labeled by room and contents, so unpacking goes faster. If you packed yourself, we'll still unpack, and clear room labels speed things up.

What items shouldn't be packed by movers?

Keep medications, important documents, jewelry, cash, laptops and anything you'll need right away with you. Movers also can't transport hazardous materials such as propane, paint, chemicals or ammunition. Your consultant will give you the full list during your estimate.
